Tour of Utah

Joel and Haddon braved the crowds in downtown Salt Lake last night to see the Stage 3 Criterium race for the Tour of Utah. For anyone who doesn't know, Joel is a cycling fanatic. Yes, he wears spandex every chance he gets. It's embarrassing for me, and, ahem, liberating for him. The race started at 7pm, so they headed down a little early in hopes of meeting some of the famous riders and getting some free stuff from the sponsors. They succeeded at both. We now have enough vitamin water to feed a small army! Before the race started, they met some of the Garmin Chipotle and the Bissell team riders. The pics of the actual race were really blurry because they had a spot on the corner, where the Peloton raced past too quickly for a good shot. Joel even received a small flesh wound from a rock that was thrown out by a tire. His claim to fame! After the race was finished, they stuck around and actually got a picture with Tyler Hamilton from Rock Racing. He's a former team member to the one and only Lance Armstrong, and is also an Olympic Gold Medalist from 2004. Joel thought he was the absolute coolest because the guy loves dogs, and was trying to feed a fans' dog out of his water bottle. Needless to say, both of my men came home very happy and excited to tell the tales of their activity. Joel is off this morning in spandex (of course) to try to catch the end of stage 4. Maybe his dreams of going pro will be realized this morning....or maybe not. :)
