Years ago I bought Joel a t-shirt that said "I Is A Colidge Stoodunt" that he wore proudly...around the house. Anyone who knows my husband knows that school has never been his favorite thing. Before his mission, he enrolled at Boise State University and lets just say, he got an A in social life and not an A in his other classes. After his mission, he went back to BSU to retake those classes, and get officially started on his History Degree, which might enventually lead to a teaching career. A year later he met a fabulous girl who took him to the temple, and promptly made him a poor newlywed, so he had to take a break from school. He restarted shortly after, and began getting credits under his belt once again. Then, one year and 2 months after getting married, he became the proud father of a bouncing baby boy, who made him an even poor-er newlywed, so he had to take yet another break from school to get a real job. Some time later, his wonderful wife nagged him enough to start back up again, so he did. He was given the opportunity to teach early morning seminary, in addition to his full time job at a law firm in town. So he started teaching in the am, going to work during the day, and taking classes for a history degree that might lead to law school, whenever he could squeeze them in. This lasted some time before he burnt out on all that was expected of him, so school had to be put on the back burner, yet again. A year later, the full time seminary teacher option became a thing of the past, and he realized he did not want to be a lawyer or a paralegal...so he went back to school. This time for a broad spectrum degree in business management. A short time was spent juggling work, church callings, school and family, when he realized something needed to change, so he looked into online schooling through the University of Phoenix. What a heaven send!
So here we are two years, five moves, three births, two jobs, one death, 4 road bikes, several boo-boos, and a million happy memories later, and Joel has finally finished. On May Third, 2008, Joel graduated from the University of Phoenix with his Bachelor of Science in Business Management. I can not be more proud of my non-school loving husband. Through all of the trials of daily life, he stuck it out and finished. Thank you, Joel, for loving your little family enough to gain higher education so that your loved ones can have a better life! We Love You! Congratulations on your graduation sweetie!!!
