He's a full force Cub Scout.

March has been full of cub scout activities for Haddon.  He participated in the Scout-A-Rama 2 weeks ago.  Joel and I were pleasantly surprised in the sales drive of our little scout.  He brought home 30 coupon sheets to sell.  He canvased the neighborhood for 2 hours early Saturday morning, and sold about 5 tickets.  When he got back from his final basketball game that afternoon, he tried to go out again, but found that the other boys in the troop had pretty much cleaned out the neighborhood.  We gave him the option to stop at the 5 he had sold, but he was having none of that.  So he and Joel headed to the local grocery store, and spent one hour selling outside the front doors.  He sold all of his tickets, and earned extra money just for 'being a fine young man'.  He was one excited boy.  For his hard work, he was rewarded with a hobo bag full of goodies attached to a new walking stick.  There was a water bottle, first aid kit, firestarter kit, pocket knife, knot kit, patches, and tons of other goodies inside.  Yep, that's $150 for 3 hours of work.  Not bad buddy!  Too bad his troop only gets a percentage....:)
He wanted me to show what else he got...a free Chipotle burrito.  It was the size of a small child.  He truly was in heaven!
Then last week they held the pinewood derby.  Haddon worked really hard to make his car into a wedge of swiss cheese that had a mouse riding atop.  We got there the night of, and there was a frenzy of fathers and boys weighing, rigging, and slicking up their cars.  Joel and Haddon jumped right in, and Haddon's car was officially entered.  The professional pinewood derby 'guy' was a bit scary.  He proceeded to lecture us for the next 15 minutes on how expensive that track was, that he bought it with his own money, and that he absolutely would not tolerate anyone messing with it.  Anyone caught so much as stepping over the end of the track would be fined $5.00.  For a room full of 150+ people, it got awfully quiet.  Luckily, the boys were so excited that their enthusiasm overshadowed our overzealous track owner.  Haddon got to run his car 4 times, and took 2nd,4th,4th,and 3rd, which unfortunately didn't get him into the finals.  He was awarded the most humorous car award for his cheese car, and got to take it home on a trophy base.  Nice work buddy! What a fun night!
With those events over, this week it's a food drive!  Here we go again!
